Regent Airways (incorporated as HG Aviation Limited) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Habib Group - the Chittagong-based conglomerate engaged in a diverse portfolio of business endeavours which includes power, steel, readymade garments, textiles, spinning, cement, paper, fertilizer among others.
The airline began commercial flight operations from 10th November, 2010 using its own fleet of two Canadian-built Bombardier Dash-8-Q300 aircraft, each seating 50 passengers in a single-class layout. The aircraft is known for its exceptional reliability and passenger comfort and has enabled the airline to operate with an on-time performance of over 97% and has carried over 500,000 passengers within two years of operations with a perfect safety record. It is also noteworthy that Regent Airways is the first airline from Bangladesh to have received approval for its Safety Management System Manual from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) which is an internationally acknowledged standard set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Regent Airways has also worked closely with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to receive professional training on Emergency Planning & Response Management and Airline Security Operations for its staff across the different departments of the airline. Training on Customer Service has also been provided by Bird Group of India and further training programmes are also scheduled to take place through the year 2012. These training programmes have been planned to make the airline’s staff duly-accredited with the knowledge and skills required to operate efficiently and provide the best service to its passengers.

As a start-up airline, Regent Airways is setting standards never seen before in the local industry – starting from extensive infrastructural capabilities and modern fleet of aircraft to world-class training of its staff and adoption of highest safety standards.
The fleet of the aircraft currently consists of 02 (two) Canadian-built Bombardier Dash-8-Q300 aircraft reputed for its exceptional reliability and passenger comfort, which are maintained to European standards. The fleet is planned to expand soon with larger jet aircraft such as the Boeing 737 as Regent would begin to fly beyond the borders of Bangladesh.
Across the fleet and for every single flight, Regent is giving paramount importance to the safety of its passengers. Regent is closely working with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – global airline industry’s leading organization, who is training the airline’s staff in the areas of safety, security, and customer service. All our staff are motivated to provide impeccable standards of services on the ground and in the air, each day, every day.
We are also making uncompromised commitments to ensure delivery of world-class services: our reservation & ticketing system is empowered by AeroPack from TTI, a French provider of IATA standard e-ticketing solutions; the flight operations is supported by solutions from Lufthansa Systems – the world’s largest provider of airline IT solutions; the engineering is strengthened by the association with respectable operator and engineering services provider for the Dash-8 aircraft based in England.
Regent Airways has also planned to develop the country’s first full-fledged maintenance hangar belonging to a private airline, one which will be spanned across a staggering 500,000 square feet of space within the area of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
